Relationships



Our relationships are probably the most important part of our lives and can bring much meaning and happiness. They can provide much joy and support, love along with friendship and can be good sources of advice and guidance. They can however also lead to unhappiness and a range of problems when they break down.
It is not unrealistic to assume that at some point during our lives we will experience problems in a relationship, this could be with a friend, a family member, spouse or work colleague.
All relationships, including marriages, can be demanding and if problems are not dealt with appropriately and effectively they tend to build up over time. We all react differently to situations and emotions and it can be difficult to know how to best resolve issues or to even understand what went wrong.
If a partnership or relationship is not fulfilling your expectations, it can also impact on your happiness in other areas of your life. Each person has their own opinion of what makes a great relationship/partnership and will have different needs that they want fulfilled.
There can be any number of reasons why a relationship/partnerships may not be working as well it could be however, with the desire to improve things along with determination, love and understanding, individuals can get things back on track.
Relationships take hard work to nurture and develop and often take time, effort and compromise to make them work effectively.
Issues that sometimes affect relationships:
• insecurity
• communication skills
• a sense of feeling trapped
• facing divorce or separation
• lack of romance in the relationship
• admitting you attract the ‘wrong’ type
• having to deal with a partners infidelity
• trying to understand yourself and your partner better
• uncertainty of whether or not it is the end of a relationship
