Improving Your Work/Life Balance



Do you often find yourself feeling exhausted or maybe you feel there are just not enough hours in the day to get everything done? Do you find that work obligations constantly put strain on your family life? If so, it might be time to reassess your work/life balance.
The pressure we face at work can often take over our lives, and although we all know there’s more to life than work, we can often get so caught up in long working hours and the increase in workplace competition that we forget it. As a result our family, friends and the hobbies we once enjoyed can unintentionally be neglected as work starts to fill most of the hours in our day.
With the advent of technology, it has become easier to work whilst on the move or from home if you are not at the office, smart phones, tablets, laptops and emails make it harder to switch off from work and communicating out of working hours is now common place for many.
Most people who spend long hours at work usually receive a reasonable income however, they find that have very little or no time at all to enjoy their money or spend time with family and friends doing the things they enjoy. Finding a good work/life balance means dividing your time between everything you find important in your life.
Here are some reasons why individuals decide to reassess their work/life balance:
• they feel exhausted on a daily basis
• work has taken over and dominates their life
• their not enjoying life as much as they used to
• they have started dreading getting up in the mornings
• their not spending enough time with friends and family
• their not spending any time enjoying hobbies/activities
• they feel overwhelmed and unable to cope with the pressure of life
• they spend evenings and weekends thinking doing or thinking about work
Life should incorporate the things you enjoy with the responsibilities of earning a living. Without the right balance we find that certain areas of our lives start to suffer.
